Hi-Rez Studios lists in a forum post, the upcoming design goals for Smite.
"There are some significant design changes we are planning to test out over the next few patches."
"The main focus of the design changes are to get players into the action as soon as possible, make the action as exciting as possible, at the same time add more depth and options for players."
The following are going to come over the next few patches:
* Another game mode will be added which will be a capture and hold style play. Some additional game mode options will come as well for interesting twists on the current game play.
* God design is shifting to allow players more flexibility in playing style (AD vs Magic), Bacchus is a good example since he can be played as either AD or Magic in many different build-outs.
* God 'leveling' will be introduced soon, it will allow players more configuration options outside the match (you will have 6 'slots' to put passive runes/perks into)
* A few cleanups and improvements to the 'quickcast' system, and some on some Gods that utilize that system exclusively.
* Stronger and cheaper purchased abilities with passives that are always on. They will also be part of recommended items.
